CARENA STEWART
Purpose-driven marketing and communications that inspire action
I’m a marketing and communication strategist whose heart beats for wildlife, the environment, and the people who do the work to protect them.
With a background in corporate communications and marketing, I bring experience across content development, internal communications, event planning, and strategic messaging helping translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
I approach my work with authenticity, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset—valuing strong relationships, thoughtful communication, and continuous learning.
WHAT I DO
Nonprofits are doing incredible work—but often without the time or resources to fully invest in telling their story. Marketing and communications teams are frequently understaffed, underfunded, or stretched across too many priorities.
I partner with organizations to fill that gap—offering flexible, strategic support when and where it’s needed. Whether you’re launching a campaign, refining your messaging, or just need an extra set of hands, I bring a fresh perspective and thoughtful storytelling approach to help your work reach further.
Marketing Strategy
Strong marketing and communications require structure and consistency. I support organizations with strategic messaging, internal alignment, and engagement tracking.
Event Marketing
Have an event coming up and want to reach the right audience? I support organizations with event messaging, promotion, and post-event engagement and content.
Survey Design
Insight strengthens impact. I design and analyze stakeholder surveys to help organizations understand their audiences and make informed, strategic decisions.
Content Development
Clear, consistent content builds trust. I help environmental organizations translate complex ideas into accessible, mission-aligned messaging across platforms.
WHY I CARE
My connection to sustainability started
long before my career did.
I grew up in Arizona riding horses and hiking desert trails—spending most of my time outdoors. Those early experiences shaped how I see the environment: resilient, beautiful, and worth protecting. Visiting Pennsylvania every summer and learning about its forests and wildlife expanded that perspective and deepened my curiosity about ecosystems and regional impact.
Even in third grade, I was creating Earth Day posters about eco-friendly habits (and proudly winning the competition). What started as childhood interest became something much more intentional over time.
As a professional, I’ve pursued formal sustainability coursework, collaborated on ESG communications, and founded and led an environmental sustainability employee resource group within a global company. I’ve helped educate teams, support environmental initiatives, and communicate impact clearly and responsibly.
I believe environmental work deserves thoughtful communication—messaging that is honest, strategic, and grounded in real impact.
Supporting mission-driven organizations isn’t just professional for me. It’s personal.
